Meet Antonia

In the photo below, Tonia shops for a tiny house. She is very fond of them and hopes to get one in the future. We hope you enjoy her fun and thoughtful responses to our questions as much as we did.

1. If you could be doing anything in the world at this moment, what would it be?

If I could do anything in the world at this moment, it would be to provide a safe, loving space within which individuals can learn basic tools of self-empowerment and joyful living. Some elements may include tips on nutrition and eating habits, meditation, or use of BodyTalk, so that individuals have a foundation from which they may realize their own unique gifts and share that with the world. To a certain extent, I already do this, as part of my "living meditation," but I think society needs the support now more than ever.

2. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to and why?

I always loved how the names of native American elders reflected an element of nature he or she most connected to. I remember watching the film Dances with Wolves as a young adult, and understanding the powerful symbolism behind this name as the story unfolded. As a dog lover, I feel an immediate heart opening when I make eye contact with these beautiful creatures. I love the playfulness, protectiveness, and unconditional love they exude and gift to humanity. Recently, the Corgi breed from Wales has really enamored me. Just watching them run makes me feel light, break into a smile, and remember what is really important in life. Maybe I can embody some of that energy if I change my name to Runs with Corgis.

3. What is the best piece of advice you were ever given?

The best piece of advice I ever received was to never change. At first, I thought this was horrible advice, because aren't we supposed to evolve as we go through life? Isn't change the only constant? I answer yes to both questions, but I think what the person intended was for me to never lose my sense of innocence, and to look at the world with the lens of truth and authenticity that children have, something we often forget as we become adults.

4. Do you have a favorite personal saying or mantra?

I really love the poetry of the late Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue. The last verse in his poem "A Morning Offering" serves as a reminder to me that every day is an opportunity to both live in joy and realize my destiny. It goes: "May I have the courage today to live the life that I would love, to postpone my dream no longer, but to do at last what I came here for, and waste my heart on fear no more."

5. Why BodyTalk, Access or the Life Sciences?

I am drawn to BodyTalk because it is the most comprehensive health care system I have ever encountered. The philosophy and science are drawn together from so many angles, a deep understanding of consciousness and energy exists at its core, and a treasure chest of advanced modules expands as far as one is willing to learn. Also, it works! BodyTalk, although relatively new, feels ancient and wise to me, and is both what health care is intended to be, and what the world needs. I am excited to see how it evolves over the years, and the benefits it will bestow on those who use it.

Tonia has always been interested in both complementary health care systems and studies on human consciousness, so when she found BodyTalk, she felt like she had found a treasure. It seemed to bring everything together, and yet there was still so much more to learn, with a depth that seemed infinite. Having a curious mind, she immediately enrolled in a Fundamentals class and has since taken other modules within the BodyTalk curriculum, as well as received many powerful sessions. The instructors and practitioners she has met have helped her make incredible shifts in both her health and her life, and she continues to be thankful for and awed by the work they do.

By profession, she writes and edits content for both digital and print media, and through writing this article, is happy to be able to merge many of her interests. In her previous life, she worked in financial services and has an MBA in International Management. She looks forward to meeting more members of the BodyTalk community, witnessing continued growth of the BodyTalk system, and becoming a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner, with special interest in working with animals.
