Online Teaching Staying for Good

Oct 23, 2020

By IBA Office

We are happy to announce that all Instructors have been given approval to teach IBA courses online permanently. Of course, we know that many Instructors will also return to teaching in-person when we are no longer in such a socially distanced world. The recent survey we sent out to students who had attended online courses was overwhelmingly positive.

The feedback we had been receiving all year from both students and Instructors was excellent. While permanent online teaching was always the goal, before John would greenlight long-term online teaching, he wanted assurance that new, online-trained students' results were just as effective as those trained in person. Being that BodyTalk is energy work, both John and Instructors were fairly confident in consistency of student effectiveness. However, our survey enables us to now confirm with assurance that the quality of new, online-trained students' treatments is of an equally high standard to those trained in person. These results have reassured John, Esther and the IBA Team that BodyTalk and the Life Sciences will maintain their integrity, whether taught online or in person, for many years to come.

We encourage you to continue enjoying this wonderful format. We also encourage those with the necessary skill set to consider coordinating an online course.

Before we sign off, we would like to leave you with the words from one of our survey respondents.

What did you really enjoy about taking courses in the online format?

1- I enjoy not having to travel to another country or city.

2- I enjoy not having to get into a car and go to a venue.

3- #1 and 2 save time, energy, and money.

4- I have a comfortable chair to sit in. I have everything I need to sit comfortably at home – cushions, bolsters, etc.

5- I enjoy home-cooked food rather than eating at a restaurant or preparing food to take with me.

6- Air quality and temperature control at home versus a venue surprisingly was a huge bonus. No smells, no freezing or too hot.

7- I really enjoy not having noises from the venue or other students around me.

8- I really enjoyed the number of students that shared in class. I find in public the same students tend to ask questions and/or share whereas online I found everyone spoke up and had adequate time to share.

9- I enjoy having complete privacy during breaks and after class. I understand many people like to connect in breaks and afterward. For myself synthesizing the work is preferable than socializing afterward.

10- I really enjoyed seeing everyone's face rather than sitting beside another student or looking at the back of the student's heads. This feels to me much more intimate than in-person classes – as paradoxical as that might seem!

11- I enjoyed sleeping in my own bed rather than a hotel room.

12- I enjoyed having breaks in my own home rather than wandering like a lost puppy while synthesizing material around a hotel or venue.

13- During breaks I could also choose whether to engage with others or not. Depending on what was going on in my body-mind.

14- As I sit here writing I realize how silent the course was. This made it easier to learn, think, and be present for the work. This is quite stunning to realize at this moment. Very powerful.

Warm regards,
The IBA Team
