Any trauma, whether a single event or over time, is simply a stressor from which someone has had difficulty recovering. The accumulated compensations the body makes to try and mitigate these stressors lead to the deterioration of health over time. The body might become stuck in “fight or flight” mode, greatly impacting the hypothalamus, which is vital in regulating homeostasis. The hypothalamus then sends a constant flood of stress hormones, such as cortisol, throughout the body. Chronic stress from trauma has myriad consequences. It can decrease the diversity of the gut microbiome, thereby contributing to the proliferation of “bad” bacteria in the gut. It can also lead to weakened immunity and increased susceptibility to chronic diseases. Emotionally, the impact may be increased anxiety, depression, and less resiliency to stress over time. The intuition can also become heightened as an adaptation to help the body survive and recover. In this state, the body may sense danger in advance or experience various signs and synchronicities.

In essence, these temporary coping mechanisms that help you survive can, over time, interfere with harmonious and balanced communication and a healthy and balanced state of intuition that supports optimal homeostasis.

In this three-session series on Trauma and Intuition, we highlight the positive aspects of trauma as a catalyst for self-discovery and inner transformation. Using the wisdom of BodyTalk formulas, we can help unwind tension patterns going back to early childhood, fetal life and the family system to restore harmonious communication throughout the immune system, energy pathways, microbiome, and other systems impacted by trauma.
