Create Connection Within Your BodyTalk Community

May 08, 2024

By Heidi Reid

Every day, I am honored to be part of the BodyTalk community--whether that means supporting a client on their consciousness journey, observing them shift body/mind/spirit, or supporting students as they learn and move along their paths of conscious awareness. With enthusiasm and an open heart, I observe where people are in my community and what they want to achieve; for some, it's supporting their friends and family through BodyTalk; for others, it's growing a BodyTalk practice. Humans appreciate connection. Sometimes people don't even know when they need support, or, if they do, they're unsure how to get it through their local BodyTalk community.

During the last few years as an instructor and practitioner, I noticed the lack of connection and community within my local BodyTalk Matrix. This has been a real problem--being isolated--as connection is so important, especially since connection is what BodyTalk is all about. BodyTalk is about connecting and reconnecting within our body, mind and spirit, as well as our link with the outer world. When disconnected, people tend to feel alone. It's not uncommon to feel that we've lost our way. The added challenge is that when doing the deeper inner work we do, we need support more than ever. Inner work is hard to do on your own. That's the simple truth of our kind of work.

Before the pandemic, I often held regular meet-and-greet opportunities for holistic practitioners, study groups for MindScape and BodyTalk, and potlucks as a "social" for practitioners to connect. But all of that stopped, and I often heard people in our area commenting that they felt more isolated and disconnected from our local matrix. People were still learning but in their own homes, and this is quite a different kind of connection.

In 2023, I made a personal commitment to "invite connection" with our local BodyTalk community as well as inviting connection to people around the world. As I was reconnecting locally, students and practitioners shared how lonely, drained, and abandoned they had truly felt. Everyone acknowledged the long-term impacts of isolation, and they were craving reconnection more than ever. Longtime practitioners shared their memories of friendships built over many years and the support they had felt in the past through in-person opportunities.

However, this doesn't have to remain a problem.

There is an absolute possibility to create connections once again in our local areas. We can recreate and strengthen the relationships we have, reconnecting with past colleagues and friends, as well as those who are new to the community. Often, when practitioners in a community feel connected, they experience an enthusiasm for the work they do and feel supported by those around them, as well as the honor of being able to provide support to others. Sometimes, we just need to be reminded of how amazing it feels to "be connected" and experience mutual support. We get to share and receive advice and support. We get to be united by common interests. At BodyTalk socials, as well as Holistic Healers meet-and-greets, I have seen people light up and make genuine "links" with peers. Gratitude and appreciation are the regular outcomes of these events.

So, how did I make this happen in my own local area? I made it EASY for students and practitioners TO SAY YES.

Last year, I hosted a barbecue for BodyTalk practitioners and students. In December, I held a pot-luck meal for people to connect and socialize. The times were flexible so people could come and go according to their schedules; they could stay the whole time or just drop in to say hello. Food and flexibility made it easy for people to "say yes."

Also, every few months I have been hosting holistic healer meet-and-greets. Here our BodyTalk community can connect and network with a larger group of holistic practitioners. It is an opportunity to connect with people offering different modalities, and it has been very well received. All are welcome! If you are ever in or near our area, I openly invite you to attend! We encourage people to come for fun and share their passions. We have massage tables set up for practitioners to do mini "trades" and experience other awesome modalities. Also, healthy snacks and tea are provided, so participants can easily show up and have their needs met. Again, making it easy to "say yes."

So, I encourage and invite you to create connections with me, either on your own or by connecting with our group here in Kelowna, Canada, or my online groups. If you are interested in attending an online BodyTalk Fundamentals and/or MindScape study group and have attended the course, join us at my free monthly groups, details HERE. You can also email me at heidi@thewisdomtoheal.com to get on the study group invite list or check my website, thewisdomtoheal.com.

Another way to connect with me is by attending Advanced MindScape: Integrating Wisdom from May 31 to June 2, 2024. In this course, students will upgrade their MindScape "workshops" creating new tools to heighten creativity, imagination and intuition. Through these exercises, students will build a deeper and growing trust in their intuitive faculties. The course features exercises to strengthen and expand conscious awareness by accessing a deeper level of knowledge within. Students will explore and learn to answer questions about their lives and personal goals, as well as explore new ways to solve problems. One method that students are sure to enjoy is learning how to access their workshops instantly anytime, anywhere, with eyes open or closed.

What would it be like for you to take the initiative and create connections in your local BodyTalk community?

Initiating groups or gatherings might sound like a lot of work. But I promise you, it is worth it!
