Course Title:
Structural Integration Concepts: Theory
Course Overview:
Structural Integration Concepts for BodyTalk explores the structural body and all of its concepts and components. The structural body is composed of all tissues, bones, organs muscles, tendons, etc. The fascial system is the tissue that permeates every aspect of our physical being, from our bones to our skin and every part of our cells in between.
Working with the fascial system of the body is the best way to help the body restore itself from dys-function to healthy function. Physical trauma, emotional stress and physical injuries are all stored in the fascia and will keep us in unhealthy patterns and expression.
There are three primary philosophies through which we can approach and understand fascial restrictions in the body:
1. Emotional/Belief System Patterns: Belief systems and emotions will cause the body to become rigid and non-expressive. As the body avoids the conflicts and stores emotions and past mental traumas, these will show up in the relationships of the different body parts based on their consciousness and location. Once you learn to read the posture of the body, the true story of this person’s experience and reality becomes very clear to the practitioner.
2. Physical Trauma: Over use, trauma, surgeries, injuries, and infections can lead to fascial adhesions and restrictions that will create a rigid body which will in turn affect the function, expression and emotions as well.
3. Lack of function and neurological inhibition: If a body part can not move safely through all planes of motion in a fluid and stable way, it will restrict the fascia and muscles. They body must be able to accelerate and decelerate in every plane of motion at the same time to have maximum performance and expression. If the body cannot decelerate a motion and load itself safely, it will restrict the tissues neurologically to keep itself from being injured. This inhibition is actually what eventually causes most injuries.
In this class you will understand all of these concepts and how to apply them with your clients during your body talk session. Merely releasing fascia is insufficient to get lasting results unless you understand and address why it is restricted in the first place. Different formulas will be taught to address each of these philosophies so that your clients can truly be pain free and have freedom in motion in all areas of their body. In addition, clients gain powerful and lasting mental and emotional freedom from these techniques as well.
As we have learned, the body is composed of three levels of existence: Consciousness, physiology and physical structure. All carry equal importance and we can’t ignore any of them, working with two levels and neglecting another. This only gives you a 66% chance of making a lasting change. As a result of learning how to work with the physical body, students report that their clients feel more change during their sessions and results are magnified greatly.
Course Description
Every cell in our body is completely enveloped in fascia. Over time, this connective tissue can become restricted from trauma, emotional issues and disease. Once it is restricted the body can no longer function optimally on the levels of consciousness, physiology and emotion expression. It then begins to compensate, resulting in less efficient systems for survival, protection, and movement. The body will tend to function on reactive levels that lead to loss of energy and adaptability.
In this course you will learn postural and functional analysis and explore compensations in emotional posture and physical movement patterns. This gives you much greater insight into your client’s wellness and helps you to see the hidden culprits of pain and disease.
Through awareness projection exercises you will learn how to see new priorities that have never been addressed in the Body Talk system before.
As you learn how the energetic body morphs into the physical body, you can be present and know exactly on which level to be treating in order to get truly deep and lasting results. Clients feel the shifts in their physical body and can relate to the changes on all levels.
You will learn the most comprehensive and cutting edge myofascial release techniques with ease, even if you have never had massage or hands on training before. Once this is accomplished you will learn new Body Talk formulas that release the fascia energetically so that you can easily do fascial and structural work from a distance.
Every link that we do in a Body Talk session is healing or improving a relationship in the body mind complex. In this class we will more deeply explore the relationships amongst body parts, belief systems, physiology and more. Understanding these relational dynamics is key to having a powerful session with clients. Once these links are reestablished, you will learn how to “integrate” your formulas in order to help the session “lock in” to the shifts that you have facilitated. This is very important for stubborn pathologies that seem to keep resurfacing.
Learn and understand the planes of motion and the proprioceptive nervous system so that you can apply these concepts into your releases, formulas and home work for your clients.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course participants will:
1. Understand Structural Integration Theory and application.
2. Understand fascial anatomy and function.
3. Demonstrate the skills necessary to do postural evaluation from a structural, emotional and compensatory perspective.
4. Expand upon the scar tissue and adhesion releases and how to use them to affect the entire fascial network.
5. Understand the proprioceptive nervous system and how it can restrict fascia and movement.
6. Understand the planes of motion and how to release them to ensure optimal pelvic movement.
7. Understand the relationships involving the structures of the body and how to release emotional and physical restriction patterns.
8. Experience awareness projection and how to use it to deepen the revealing of Body Talk formulas and for self healing.
9. Understand formulas that release fascial restrictions energetically, and during distance work.
10. Understand the concepts of integrating shifts into the body mind to ensure more successful and longer lasting sessions.
11. Using reciprocals in new ways and using them to release fascia and restricted planes of motion.
12. Understand important phrases for the Active Memory technique that will take the beliefs to a deeper level and shift.
13. Set the student up to be ready for SI Mastery. SI Mastery is a practical intensive to master working with the fascia and to learn basic Visceral manipulation (releasing organ restrictions). This ensures that every aspect of the physical body can be released and free to heal.
